Korean Traditional Chicken Soup has a wealth of health benefits that can be derived by including it in your diet. Samgyetang is a type of guk/Korean soup, which primarily consists of a whole young chicken and Korean ginseng. The dish's name literally translates as "ginseng chicken soup" in English. Samgyetang is traditionally served in the summer usually for its supposed nutrients, which replaces those lost through excessive sweating and physical exertion during the hot summers in Korea. "How to make Samgyetang"- Korean Traditional Chicken soup with Herbal Ginseng Recipe - Prepare (for 1 person basis) 1 package of the Herbal Ginseng and Herbs for Korean Traditional Chicken Soup 1 of young chicken 10~15 pieces of peeled garlic 1 cup of glutinous sweet rice 1 pieces of the white part of the leek A little Salt & Pepper, 1 big spoon of minced small green onion - How to make 1. Prepare and wash the chicken thoroughly, and cut out the excessive fat skin with scissors. Also, cut out the neck and hip parts of the chicken. (If you don't cut out the parts of fat, the soup will have too much of unnecessary oil) 2. Prepare the glutinous sweet rice soaking in the water about 1 hour before, and drain it. 3. Wash and clean all of the herbs and ginseng from the Herbal Ginseng and Herbs for Korean Traditional Chicken Soup package. After clean all the herbs, put all the herbs in the drawstring mesh bag that came inside of the package separately. 4. Stuff inside of the chicken with the prepared 5 pieces of garlic and the glutinous sweet rice, and twist the legs of chicken cross and tie them with a strand of clean string. (Put other remained prepared pieces of garlic into the pot as it is when you put other herbs and chicken for boiling.) 5. Put all of the bagged herbs and ginseng, the stuffed chicken, remaining garlic and 1 piece of the white part of the leek into the pot with water. Water needs to be enough for all of the ingredients soaked in and boil the water hard. 6. After it is boiled hard, lower the heat to low and boil for 1 hour or 1 1/2 hour more. (longer cooking time will make thicker and tastier broth) 7. Put some salt & pepper and the minced small green onion into the soup, and the Samgyetang is ready to eat. Enjoy the delicious Korean Traditional Ginseng and Herbal Chicken soup!
